SOLD at charity auction

A concept piece representing the wild wonderful weekends in Dallas, Texas in the 1980s cruising up and down Forest Ln. during the prime of the evening showing off our cars enjoying the nightlife of a high school teenager. Later, after midnight, we would congregate at the corner of Emerald Blvd. and Forest Ln. to watch the muscle cars drag race down Emerald in a makeshift quarter mile run.  All the most extreme motor heads would show with their pride and joy to see who looked the coolest and who was the fastest. The police would usually get there between the 4th and 5th race and everyone would scatter.  The best cars had control of a parking lots near the race starting line and the more romantic types in regular cars would park in the city park across the street. I never raced my car but she was a sweet ride to look at (restored 1970 cherry red Fiat Spider convertible) so we were allowed to cruise in and park with the racers. My little car was quick and agile but was no match for the monster engines people were bringing out.  The undisputed king of Emerald at that time was a Datsun 240Z Scarab rocking a 8 cylinder turbo charged 327 Hemi that was squeezed onto the tiny yet expanded engine compartment. So much muscle on such a small light car!

My cousin tried to out do him by putting a 454 police interceptor engine in his little green gremlin. The day he turned 16, he took it out for the first test drive and he wrecked it into his town's mayors wife's Cadillac.
